Chinedu Okoli AKA Flavour is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer. His rise to fame is similar to the stories of most musicians. He began his musical career as a drummer for a local church in his hometown of Enugu State. His final flight to stardom came after his hit song “nwa Baby (Ashawo Remix)”
That he has money is no news but what he does with his money is what draws our attention. Did you know that this guy visits the poor and needy each time he makes a musical tour? After his concerts, he visits orphanages and other needy places and makes huge donations. His unique approach to music is what makes him a hero. Many examples include food and money donations in Mali, Ivory Coast and Liberia, among others.
Like they say, charity begins at home and this guy is among the few Niegiran musicians who constantly make food donations to people in hard to reach communities in Nigeria.
The Super star recently released on of his videos of his latest album featuring one of the children he met in the orphanage in Liberia. The dreams of the young, blind boy Semah G Weifur didn’t only come true when he met his favourite musician but it must have felt like a fairy tale co-staring with him in his hit video. The collaborative single, “Most High” is making air waves in Africa.
Flavour N’abania also runs a charity organization, the Chinedu Okoli Foundation established in 2012, where he gives youths the opportunity to have an extra ordinary experience with music through education and social empowerment.
This is an example worth emulating. Life goes beyond the bank account.
